1. Agreement and operator
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) apply when you access or use the Slicey app or website (“Slicey” or the “Service”). The Service is operated by Slicey (“we”, “us”, or “our”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. What Slicey does
Slicey provides digital tools for customers to discover independent home bakers and request cake orders, and for participating bakers to display menus and manage orders. Unless a separate written agreement says otherwise, Slicey is a platform and is not the baker, manufacturer, or delivery provider. The baker is responsible for preparing the cake and fulfilling accepted orders.
3. Accounts and eligibility
You must provide accurate information, keep your account details reasonably secure, and promptly correct details that change. You are responsible for activity through your account. Do not create an account on behalf of someone else unless you are authorised to do so. The Service is not intended for anyone who is legally unable to enter into these Terms.
4. Orders and custom cakes
- An order request is not confirmed until the baker accepts it in the app or otherwise confirms it through an approved Slicey channel.
- Prices, menu items, sizes, customisation choices, availability, and delivery options are set by the baker and may change. The information displayed at checkout or in the confirmed order should be checked before placing an order.
- Custom cakes are handmade. Their appearance may differ from a photo or reference, and exact results cannot always be guaranteed.
- If you have an allergy or dietary requirement, contact the baker before ordering and get their confirmation. Do not assume a product is allergen-free unless the baker has expressly confirmed it.
- Provide accurate contact details, delivery address, date/time selection, and cake message. You are responsible for checking spelling and custom instructions before submitting them.
5. Payment, cancellation, delivery, and refunds
Before launch, add the real rules that customers see in the app: accepted payment methods, any service or delivery fees, when payment is charged, cancellation deadlines, failed or late delivery handling, order changes, and refund eligibility and timing. Where payment is enabled, the applicable payment provider’s terms may also apply. Until those details are confirmed, do not treat this starter section as a complete payment or refund policy.
6. Terms for home bakers
If you list products or accept orders as a baker, you agree to:
- provide accurate bakery, menu, price, availability, ingredient, and delivery information;
- use only photos and content you own or have permission to use;
- keep order status and customers reasonably updated, and fulfil orders you accept as agreed;
- follow applicable food safety, hygiene, consumer, tax, business, and licensing requirements; and
- respond appropriately to customer concerns and provide accurate allergen information.
Bakers operate independently and are responsible for their products, preparation, pricing, order acceptance, and fulfilment. Add any separate baker onboarding or marketplace agreement that applies.
7. Reviews and user content
You are responsible for content you submit, including reviews, messages, photos, and cake instructions. Content must be truthful, relevant, lawful, and respectful; it must not infringe another person’s rights, expose private information, or contain harmful or misleading material. By submitting content, you give Slicey permission to display and use it only as needed to operate and promote the Service, subject to applicable law and any separate consent required. You retain ownership of your content.
We may remove content or restrict an account where reasonably necessary to enforce these Terms, protect users, or comply with law.
8. Acceptable use
Do not misuse the Service, interfere with its security or operation, submit fraudulent orders, impersonate another person, scrape or copy listings without permission, upload malicious code, or use Slicey in a way that violates applicable law or another person’s rights.
9. Slicey intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, name, logos, and original content, belongs to Slicey or its licensors and is protected by applicable laws. You may use the Service for its intended personal or business purposes, but may not copy, modify, distribute, or commercially exploit it without permission, except where the law permits.
10. Third parties and availability
The Service may rely on third-party providers and may link to third-party services. We do not control their products or terms. We aim to keep Slicey useful and available, but features, bakeries, and service areas may change, and uninterrupted or error-free operation cannot be guaranteed.
11. Suspension and ending use
You may stop using Slicey at any time. We may suspend or restrict access if reasonably necessary for safety, suspected fraud or misuse, a breach of these Terms, service maintenance, or legal reasons. We will handle open orders and information in accordance with the applicable order terms, our Privacy Policy, and the law.
12. Disclaimers and responsibility
To the extent permitted by law, Slicey is provided on an “as available” basis. We do not guarantee a particular baker, product, delivery time, or order outcome. Nothing in these Terms removes any consumer rights or liability that cannot legally be excluded. Add and locally review any limitation of liability, indemnity, or dispute terms before launch; do not rely on this paragraph as a substitute for jurisdiction-specific legal advice.
13. Changes to the Service or Terms
We may update the Service or these Terms. We will update the “Last updated” date and provide notice where required. If you continue using Slicey after updated Terms take effect, your use will be subject to those Terms to the extent permitted by law.
